College Application Process


Steps To Requesting Letters of Recommendation:

  • Please check your university's admission requirements to find out if you need a letter of recommendation. *Please note all Common App Schools require a letter of recommendation.

  • You will need to complete a Brag Sheet in Naviance. This is crucial for your counselor and/or teacher to write your recommendation. 

    • Login to Naviance and select the “About Me” tab at the top right corner 

    • Next under “Surveys to Take” select Monte Vista Brag School Sheet and complete

  • Please update your college list in Naviance.

    • Select Colleges Tab

    • Colleges I am applying to

    • Click the plus sign on top right corner

    • Add your university’s information

  • Make sure you have matched your Common App and Naviance accounts

  • Please ask your counselor or teacher to write your recommendation, typically this request is made in person. Please allow at least 2 weeks for the completion of your recommendation and plan accordingly with your college application deadlines.

  • Officially request your letter of recommendation through Naviance. 

    • Select “Colleges I’m Applying to” 

    • Select “Request a Letter of Recommendation”
